Week 8 Mashups and API

This week's topic was the most confusing to me. I need to spend a lot more time reading about all of this and slowly exploring all the ins and outs of it on the web. The mashups I looked at didn't really do much for me. Perhaps this is because I just don't understand the concept quite yet. When I tried to do the Rollyo exercise I got totally lost. I'm not giving up. I will take time to work on this. But for now - I need to sign off.
Feeling a little lost at sea right now, but less the dinosaur than when I started this class 8 weeks ago!

Week 7 Podcasting and Online Hosted Video

YouTube is fun. I had heard that TexShare had created a video on YouTube so that is what I searched for and found very easily. It's a great promotion piece and gives me a lot of ideas on how we could use YouTube in our library to promote new resources, services etc. to our users. It gives us yet another tool to reach people in the environment they are most comfortable with.

Sharing videos on YouTube is much easier than I thought. In a flash I had posted it to Facebook.

Podcasting is another way to share short or longer instructional pieces about library resources and services with our clients. I am delighted to see what both the Univ of Tennessee and the Claude Moore library are doing with it. Providing these great examples makes it very clear what the potential is for us. I can't wait to get my staff going on this. The possibilities are endless.
